These students represented the Maitland Newcastle Diocese by producing the Big Brain Bin which is a capacity conscious bin attachment that measures and gathers data around bin usage. In this product a sensor is fitted within a standard garbage bin which alerts cleaning staff to when bins require emptying and to gather data around areas that require more
rubbish receptacles. This sensor system utilised ultrasonic components and Arduino technology that the students had to learn and code.
